Roush Fenway driver Carl Edwards remains the biggest name free agent for the 2012 NASCAR season, but Clint Bowyer is not far behind. His contract with Richard Childress Racing is up at the end of they year, and complicating matters is the fact that the contract with sponsor, General Mills, is also up. That means Richard Childress racing either need to resign them, or find a new sponsor before they can reach an agreement to resign Bowyer.

Talking to the Motorsports Journalist Dustin Long team owner Richard Childress had this to say, "We’re working really hard right now on sponsorship for him. We’re all wanting to stay together but we’re just looking for sponsorship. We’ve got some really good things going on but we’ve got to get them finalized. He also stated that he thinks General Mills will be back. He was not clear if he meant with the #33 Bowyer team or with another organization.
