NASCAR Rumors: Carl Edwards to Joe Gibbs Racing?

It would appear that Roush Fenway Racing is getting a little desperate to resign driver Carl Edwards. The complication here is his sponsorship package is also up for renewal so the Ford super team is having to work both sides of the fence, attracting sponsorship to the team and resigning their star driver. That has led to many reports that Joe Gibbs Racing is courting Edwards to possibly come over the the #20 Home Depot team. The complication there would be additional sponsorship would have to be found to fund Joey Logano and a fourth team.

Lee Spencer at Fox Sports.com says, "Although Edwards has not elaborated on his contract negotiations of late, he has remained steadfast that his number-one priority in making his next career move would involve seeking out an organization that can provide him with the best opportunity to win races."

Both Roush Fenway Racing and Ford Motor Company are very interested in resigning the star, but it seems pretty clear that Edwards is somewhat intent on shopping the market. A move to JGR and the backing of a sponsor like Home Depot would be very tempting for any NASCAR driver.
